My ceiling fan is starting to make an annoying squeak when turned on. How do I take the screen out to look at the motor so I can add some silicone spray to it? I am sure it is easy, but it doesn't look easy. There are 4 screws that hold the whole housing to the ceiling and I am sure that is not what I want. Also, there are two small channels that look like screws are up there and that could be it. I just can't fit a screw driver up there to grab ahold of the screws. Any help would be welcome.
The way that I did it is to remove that crappy little fan and replace the whole assembly with a fantastic fan. The fantastic fan is quiet and moves a great deal of air with three speed settings.
If it's the Maxx Air, there are 4 tabs that you turn 90 to 180 degrees (some will turn with your fingers, others I have to use pliers) & the screen falls out. On the Fantastic fan if I remember it just snaps in.
I totally agree with snowbirds, if it's the "Fantastic Fan" junk it & replace it with "Maxx Air"

Nothing wrong with my Fantastic fans. I have two and they work great. The original bathroom was a dinky little noisy fan that hardly moved air and rattled.
Sorry misunderstood! Mine RW had 4 roof vent fans, 3 were Maxx Air & the one over the toilet was a Fantastic Fan very noisy with a switch on the wall off/on only you had to stand up to manually open vent, scrapped it for a Maxx Air with a open/close on/off forward/reverse hi/low fan speed right at your elbow, which is very handy while in the middle of your business.
Plus Maxx Air has great customer service.
