We're full-timers using the Splendide Ariston Washer and Dryer (stacked).

http://www.splendide.com/splendide_stackables.htm

http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-pumps-water/stackable-washer-dryer.htm

The washer is extremely quiet. The washer takes about 30 minutes unless washing heavy items and using the bleach cycles. Then, its about an hour.

The dryer is pretty noisy. It takes about 1.5 hours for jeans and 1 hr for normal loads. Add three or four laundry balls to speed the drying time. Use the plastic or rubber ones. When you make your own out of aluminum, they are very noisy. a lot of times, the jeans will go outside to dry. It can be faster. Keep in mind a lot of parks don't allow that practice.

They each hold about a small clothes basket.

The wife enjoys using these units even if it takes longer. But on the flip side, you can accomplish multiple loads at the washateria. When we go there with multi-loads (because we get behind), we can be done with everything in about 1.5 hours including drive time. There is a cost of going to the washateria....It usually runs about $10. At least at home one can throw the loads in and do other things while they wait.

The Splendides are not cheap but we are glad we have them.

Be sure to use the HD laundry soaps.

Splendide Ariston's are awesome. We used our first set for 7 years in 2 5ers before we traded and we now have a 4 year old set that came with our coach. Two things important to us - ease of winterizing, low water consumption and Aristons meet our expectations on both. We get to sqeeze a few loads in when on tank water without filling the waste tank or robbing all of our fresh water. Water consumption can be as low as 7.5 gal per load.

We just switched to Splendide soap powder as recommended by Splendide. Thought I would hate it but not at all. You can adjust soap for the size of the load and the laundry is coming out as good or better as it did with the HE pouches.

We have been using a Maytag Washer and Sears Dryer (Both build by Whirlpool) for about 6 years now with no problems.
The Whirlpool units have larger drums that typical "RV" washing machines, have been very reliable and do a good job.

If anyone ever is in the CT. area and is looking for a Splendide combo unit with very little use I can give you a super deal. Just send an email. Need it gone before we sell the house.

Joe,
It's only 1 unit??? Is that what you are looking for? It's the combo washer and dryer in one. If this is what your looking for I can get the weight for you.

Yes Steve, i knew that but my fingers did not while typing.... does it need to be vented outside for the dryer portion? If so, i am not even gonna tell her, i am not ready to cut a hole in the side of the camper. .

Guess you got your answer on the weight from Gip and NO we did not have it vented outside but you can. I just used a lint trap and opened the roof vent when we used it. It washes well but drying takes for ever but if your on CG electricity who cars. When I installed our new set I did vent it out and very, very easy to drill the side.

Joe,
We switched last year to the stackable since Char didn't care for the dryer being slow so if she wants it she gets it. The new set also has a larger capacity. She purchased it used a few years old but only used once. The couple that had it installed in there trailer were going full time and storage was more important to them then laundry since they can do it at the CG so she got a good deal on it.

Our Splendie's have been nice. They are side be side within the 36RL slide. I will pick up some their detergent. Been using Tide HE tabs from home which seem to do the job. Thanks.
