Has anyone removed their inverter to access the panel behind it? I disconnected ac wires and lost power to refrigerator and tv. We have a 2015 39MB

Sounds like yours is wired exactly like my 2014GK so what you are describing makes perfect sense.

There is a 15a breaker that goes to the inverter. There is a junction box on the input side of the inverter. One leg goes to the entertainment slide, the other goes to the input side of the inverter. Once removed (or breaker is off), there would be no a/c to the entertainment slide or the refer.

In that case, the inverter senses no a/c so the transfer switch kicks in and supplies a/c from the inverter via the batteries.

I modified mine for a few reasons...In doing so, I ran into the same wiring as you did.

Hope that helps.

So if I understand you correctly, the breaker in the electrical panel marked ODS controls the power to the invertor? Once I kill the power to the invertor the invertor takes over and supplies power to the ODS? If this is how it works, then how do I provide power to the refer while the invertor is removed? How did you modify yours to work? Sorry for all of the questions and thank you for your help.

Sorry, but you have confused me.

Not sure what ods is?

The inverter has a built in transfer switch. What a transfer switch function is to determine if shore power exists. If yes (plugged in, breaker on),it simply passes the ac through. If not it takes the 12volt battery power, “inverts” it to 110 and passes it to the refer.

If you remove the inverter, you have removed both legs to supply power to the refer, the 110 shore power and the 12volt power to invert to 110. The refer can’t work.

Why are you trying to remove the inverter?

My mods were to add capabilities when boondocking, not to repair...

Are you having issues?

Sorry for the confusion. ODS is the industry term for Off door slide meaning the slide on the coach that is on the opposite side of the coach door. I'm not having any trouble with the inverter. I would like to remove the basement wall panel that the inverter is mounted on. I am wanting to add a heat register to our front bathroom and having the panel removed I believe would help me access the area that I need to get to. I really didn't want to remove the paneling on the ceiling of the basement because it is stapled to the metal studs. The only heat to that bath is a 2" flex pipe that runs under the vanity. I think I'll just try to run a second 2" pipe next to the other one and see if that will help add a little more heat to the room. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like you have an MB model. I would check in the cabinet next to the Fridge, our power cord for the fridge is plugged into an outlet in the bottom back corner of the cabinet. If yours is there you could just just and extenion cord to another outlet.
When we need extra heat in the bath, we just use a small box electric heater, as the only time we want extra heat there is when showering when it's cold outside.

I get a kick out of reading how different floorplans have different problem areas.
Your bath needs more heat, mine the toilet is in a separate room & you can roast meat in there, I replaced the register with one that's adjustable.

Ok, I didn’t get what ods had to do with the wiring of the inverter. Did you need more help with the wiring?

The drop cord would work temporary. Good idea. We use a portable heater when needed, but want to eliminate it. As for the inverter, there are what appears to be three, I believe, 14-2 w/ground AC wires entering the bottom of the inverter. What are they. Being Redwood is so ridiculously secretive with the wiring diagrams it is a struggle to figure out what comes from where and what goes to where. I don't want to make this a big issue. I was just hoping someone may have already pulled their inverter and would know what the wiring was all about. I really appreciate everyone's help and comments. Thanks to all. I think I'll just pursue the second 2" flex pipe option.

I made a wiring drawing after I removed the inverter with my mods. I can explain how the wiring existed prior to my mods. If you would like the drawing, PM me and I will forward it to you.

I had only 2 AC line on my Magnum Inverter, an input line and the output going to the Fridge. I just made a mod to mine by adding a second output line to a new outlet in the basement where I plug in a Portable Freezer. The inverter has plenty of power to power both the Fridge and Freezer when traveling.
