So I ordered my new 39MB a couple weeks ago and I have spent hours and hours reading and day dreaming. One of my early projects will be to install solar I think. Yes we have a generator, but I think solar might be interesting and add a level of independence from propane. I am thinking about 480 watts of panels on the roof. 4 6volt deep cycle and a 3000W Pure sine wave inverter/control/transfer switch combo. I would put the inverter transfer switch on the shore power side so when the generator isn't running and there is no shore power it would run off the inverter. I realize no air con will work but everything else should run for quite some time. especially the micro and the TV. Anyway I still have much to learn, and buy.
My real question is what is the solar prep that the salesman showed me and I read in my specs. I know its a port on the outside. But where does it go and is it just for portable panels?
Thanks for any input,
John
Well I answered my own question. Its simply a port on the side that ties into the house batteries. Primarily for those portable satellite panels. Not what I was hoping and not terrible useful for me. Oh well.
John
John,
I believe the solar prep on the Redwoods is a fairly new feature, so you may be one of only a few owners with this feature.
We recently had some excellent discussion of solar systems on this thread, which may be interesting reading. Scroll down and check out the system installed by Ken.
