Hi everyone we are new to the redwood family, we just bought a 2016 RW38RL and I have some questions about the TV's the dealer could not help with. Is there wiring schematics for the TV'cable? is need to see if I can watch a movie from the inside dvd player also on the out side tv? Also what orange wire is for what satalite?
Well....You've landed on a sensitive subject for many of us...
There does not seem to be any real good "Redwood" schematics for the TV system. Each RV seems to be wired a little differently. There are Orange, Gray and White wires used for each system. There are splitters hidden in locations you can't imagine. I found one splitter behind the living room entertainment center wall. You have to pull the TV down and remove brackets or covers to find that one. I also found one in the hallway hidden behind a light fixture in the ceiling. So if one goes bad, good luck finding it.
I don't know why a central control box can't be installed in the basement with individual wires run to each location. That would be very straight-forward and easily color coded.
This is about the only actual reference I have seen to date (2014 38GK). Someone else may have something different:
I think I would buy a portable DVD player and connect it to the TV outside...
Thank you so much, That's going to be a pet peeve with me. Redwood needs to step up, we had a Fleetwood motorhome and all I needed to do was call them and they would e-mail me what needed. Is there someone to call or e-mail?
Ya we have been griping about that forever, but it's like barking into a dead rabbits a^*). It seems there is a fear that China might start making knockoff Redwoods from the drawings 🙂
Anyway, tell your Dealer that unlike him, our very nice Dealer gave us this when asked the same question. Mine was wired exactly as shown on the factory drawing. Others, not necessarily.
Brad is exactly right. I used his diagram to go on a hunt for a splitter that he had that needed to be eliminated for the outside TV to work. It seems that sometime in 2014 they changed the wiring (perhaps with the addition of the outside TV compartment).
At any rate, a buddy of mine and I spent the entire day tracing every bit of coax in my rig. For the most part, the orange coax are direct runs intended for satellite use (Dish and Direct have their own splitters, ones in the rig are not compatible-they are fine for cable or OTA).
I have attached the diagram for the way my rig is wired (it is a 2014 38GK). BTW, when I asked Redwood about the differences, they told me the diagram was "not rig specific". Shortly after, they ceased providing diagrams.
