Good Morning! from Arkansas. This is our first post & it is regretfully a call for help!
Our water is either frozen or the pump is out? We ran low on water last week & after refilling the tank the pump & water surged? We topped off the water tank this a.m. & the pump runs very quietly at an even buzz? Frozen or pump out?
Your help is appreciated!
When it was below freezing, were you running the furnace ? If not you may have som frozen pipes. The propane furnace is what supplies heat to the basement. The fact that the pump just runs kind of sounds like it's not getting primed.
Agree the furnace needs to be run below freezing. If you remove 6 or 8 screws from the curved panel in the basement you will find what is in the attached picture should you want to do some poking around to investigate. The two valves are used to isolate the pump from the fresh water tank and allow antifreeze input when winterizing.
Yes, the gas heat is/had been running...as well as electric! This is our first RV venture. We are full time. Purchased unit used & it has some issues that the Dealer was suppose to repair & didn't, like a leaking sewer...my husband tried to remove the cap last night & it was froze tight so he couldnt remove it...thot it wouldnt freeze if it was open to flow..this a.m. water not working? The pump worked fine until we ran low...it srarted surging & after filling our tank it kept on surging. The water flow surged as well. Is there a filter on the water pump that may need to be cleaned?
We are thinking the pump is out or clogged...maybe need to clear a filter? or its frozen...?
Couple of things to check. There is a small filter inline just before the water pump. This could be clogged. You'll have to pull the basement wall on the Service Cabinet side to get to the pump and plumbing. But before you do this, most likely the unit has a whole house filter from the factory. It was an option but I've never seen one without it. If this filter is restricted, your water flow throughout the coach will suffer. Very easy to replace or check, open the access door in the basement panel behind the Service Cabinet and unscrew the filter housing and see what it looks like. Oh, and make sure to shut the pump off first and take pressure off the system. You should have a large plastic round filter housing wrench to open it. Would've come with the coach. This filter needs to be changed regularly depending on water quality. Last summer in New York I was changing every 10 days and using a high quality filter. Filters are cheap and can be gotten at any big box store or Amazon.
Also DO NOT rely on the gauges/sensors for fresh water or black/grey tanks to be anywhere near accurate, they are notorious for being so far off to the point of being worthless.

thank u..we were wondering about that...my husband is worried sick pipes r froze & will break...what to do to thaw if frozen? can they freeze with heat going?
if frozen how to thaw with freezing temps? will they freeze with heat running?
Easy way to check your pump is to close off water valve for tank and open the winterizing valve, pour water into the hose (if water is available hook up to city water, turn on, and check for back flush). till full and then using a water jug put antifreeze hose , turn on pump and see if it works. Kinda long , hope you can figure out what is suggested.
