TOPIC: Battery Maintenance

Battery Maintenance 9 months 1 week ago #1

In case you may have missed this opportunity with the cooler weather...It may be a good time for you to check your batteries. I'm talking about your house batteries (6V or 12V). (Although, it would be a good time to check your smoke detectors as well).

I check them about every 6 months. Fall and Spring. Rarely do I need to add water. It may be where we are. Corrosion is always at a minimum.

I have attached a procedure for those that may be new to the RV lifestyle. Some other seasoned RVer's may have something to add as well.

Just had to replace mine after almost 5 years. Replaced 2 group 27 Continental with 2 group 27 Duracell.

Great recommendation. I am guilty of not inspecting and cleaning the batteries as I should.

That's 5/10 years as stamped on the device, not date you purchased the rv. My LP/CO detector went bad the 3rd year I owned the RW, RW build date 11/12 - detector dated Aug. '11..
