Water leak in basement | 10 Relevance | 9 years ago | Jim | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
... grey tank that was cracked and now I have a water leak in the Basement. We have tried to narrow it down and we think it leaks when we take a shower. We can't see the leak, we can only see water coming out of the ceiling in the Basement. Our unit is 16 months old and we have been in for service at least 6 times. Does anyone else have leaks? I can only hope that this is going to be under warranty. We have service scheduled for March 19 at Lazydays. I wish Redwood would make service easier for those of us that are full timers. My husband is a plumber, but is a ...
Cable Operated Waste Valves | 9 Relevance | 8 years ago | Danny_and_Linda | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
Just curious! Is there a spot in the Basement that you could cut an access hole to repair the valve & hinge the piece for future access? Just thinking out loud & most anything would better than laying underneath dealing with the black tank & getting "dumped on".
Water Softener install for winter use | 9 Relevance | 6 years ago | Jim | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
I purchased a water softener this last spring and wasn't sure how I was going to protect it from the freezing weather as winter nears. Normally this unit just sits outside and is attached to the park hydrant and then feeds the coach. Having extra space in the heated Basement I figured I could just move it to this location. I added three cable/hose ports - one in the floor of the Basement where I wanted the softener and two lined with each other in the Basement and utility cabinet wall. I don't have to worry about the water softener being outside in the e ...
12 volt distribution panel beeping | 9 Relevance | 7 years ago | Jim | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
I think we are going to need a little more info please... In the Basement? Which year/model do you have? I'm not sure I have seen a panel mounted in the Basement yet. Is it possible that something else could be beeping? Do you have an inverter in the Basement (separate from the panel)? Other items that DO beep under the right conditions.... A Propane refrigerator. They beep when the door is left open. A smoke detector. A CO Detector. If its an inverter, there would be trouble alarms. We'll need more information. I'm not aware of "beeping" from the ...

... paneling is glued in place. In addition, the panels are over the top of the wall(s). So, the ceiling panels are not an option. The roofing panels are, but that is a lot of work one will undertake. Time is money. But, let's assume that money (and time) is not an object. After you peel off the roof, you will need to install a Supply and Return route. You cannot use the existing duct and that would put too much pressure on the duct and probably blow it apart. More than likely, there are all kinds of wires in the way. So now you would have to reroute them. But ...
Holding tank heat pads | 9 Relevance | 7 years ago | Jim | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
Not necessary...We have been to 4 degrees F for short periods (2-5 days) and all is fine. Keep the Furnace heat on though. And you may have to limit the indoor ceramic heaters. By having these on, you reduce the amount of time the furnace runs, but you also reduce the Basement heat. The Basement has furnace vents down there to keep the tanks from freezing. Worry more about the dump valves if they are exposed to the outside. There can be issues with the coreplast belly pan. You'll note that one side is screwed to the bottom of the frame. The other side is "s ...

... outlet in the bathroom but no joy. I unplugged all of the outlets but the problem did not go away. I noticed that the central vac would not work either so I opened the Basement wall to access it. The central vac is also on the same protected circuit and the outlet is behind the Basement wall. I unplugged the vac and reset the breaker in the bathroom. All the outlets were hot again and the breaker held. I then replugged the vac into the same outlet in the Basement and the breaker did not kick out. Tested the vac and it worked again. I have had no problems s ...
Replacement of Fire Extinguisher | 9 Relevance | 8 years ago | Jim | Preventive Maintenance and Care
I put a larger fire extinguisher in our Basement shortly after buying our Redwood. Like most of the other comments regarding fires, most people will not use the emergency exits, rather they will go out the way they came in ( The Entry Door ). Since this a heavier one and I didn't want it on the floor of the Basement I used a backer behind the felt wall to help support the bracket. I then cut a crutch to help from it moving around too much while towing, and added a velcro strap at the bottom to keep it from moving. I might not be able to get to it right away, ...
Quieting Fresh Water Pump | 9 Relevance | 9 years ago | Anonymous | Owner Modifications
Our fresh water pump has always produced quite a bit of noise when operating. This is due to it being directly attached with screws to the floor in the Basement. To reduce the noise level I came up with a plan to isolate the pump from the floor using rubber corks and an intervening layer of plywood. Holes were drilled through the plywood near its corners through which scews attaching it to the follor would pass. Four rubber corks were first drilled through the center to make it easier to thread wood screws through them. The corks were then cut into three ...

Fresh water tank overflowing in the basement | 8 Relevance | 7 years ago | Jim | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
If your fresh water tank is being filled while connected to city water, the problem is most likely a stuck or failed check valve in the pump. There should be a quarter turn inline valve between the inlet of the pump and the fresh water tank. We have chosen to close this valve to prevent city water from going backwards through the pump and into the tank. You may be able to see/access this valve through the small hinged door in the Basement wall; if not it will require taking down that portion of the wall to get at it.
Fresh water tank overflowing in the basement | 8 Relevance | 7 years ago | Jim | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
Hello everyone, we are in Destin State Park, rained yesterday so I didn't notice it, but this morning water was coming out f the fresh water full connection. The water was running across the Basement floor and exiting out the front of the fifth wheel. We have had problems with water running out the overflow hose in the past, as it was doing this morning. This is the first time it was complete no out of the fill connection. I am using water from the fresh water tank with the pump to stop water from flowing under the coach. We had our water pump replaced l ... |
