Carefree of Colorado Traveler Awnings | 6 Relevance | 8 years ago | Jim | Slideouts, Toppers and Awnings
I believe most of us have these powered awnings on our coaches; some of us only have one but a lot have two identical awnings. I had an occasion to take my Basement wall down that disturbed the wiring on the Basement wall awning switches which caused our slide awning (not a topper) to not work at all. After some troubleshooting, I had the awnings partially open when a high wind came up in AZ. There are two buttons on the back side of the awning motor enclosure (forward arm on both awnings) that will accept 12 v to retract the awnings to prevent damage in ...
Weatherization of RV | 6 Relevance | 8 years ago | Anonymous | Winterizing and Storage
I attached the link to the winterization article below, hopefully it will work for you. There are 2 valves to throw, the one in the area where you connect the water hose to is for bypassing the water heater. The other valve is located behind the Basement wall and you access it by opening the door that exposes the water filter and the valve is on "the floor" just ahead (to the right) of the water pump. it turns a quarter turn and stops the pump from pulling water from the fresh water tank. That valve is a bit tough to get to (at least for me!). I couldn't ...

... well enough to call our transit south, central or north Texas, but we have seen cooler weather and a couple of years age a couple of inches of "heart attack" snow in Monahans. We see cooler weather up north with overnight temps in the mid 20's and sometimes lower, daytime temps generally get above freezing. What I do is look at the overnight forecast and the local temperature (we have an indoor/outdoor thermometer) and if it looks windy with anticipated below freezing temps I fill the FW tank with enough water to look after our needs for as long as we plan ...
Weatherization of RV | 6 Relevance | 8 years ago | Anonymous | Winterizing and Storage
One obvious thing that I missed in previous years (the decal with instructions was hidden in the Basement) was to turn the winterization valve located just before the pump so that it sucks from the winterization line located near where the sewage drain pulls are. Turning the valve stops water or air from being pulled out of the fresh water tank. You have to open the access door and put your arm down to the pump area behind the Basement wall. I couldn't get suction on that line, so I hooked up a pump and pumped the anti freeze through the fresh water entry. ...
Outside Refrigerator | 6 Relevance | 8 years ago | Jim | Appliances
Carl I installed a fridge in the Basement of mine for adult beveragesizes. I installed 2 eyebolts into the wall on the Basement and use a bunny cord to hold it in place while travelling. When setup I had to be able to pull it out from the wall so it gets better air circulation. I also installed a 2000 with invertor so it runs while travelling
Grey Tank - 1 tank is doing shower and kitchen? | 6 Relevance | 8 years ago | Jim | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
We couldn't figure out why 1 grey tank was filling so fast. When Dave was taking a shower, I saw water bubbling up in the kitchen sink! 1 grey tank registered full, the other almost empty. Now that we are home, took the walls off inside the Basement and sure enough, one whole grey tank is for the bathroom sink and the other tank is for the shower and kitchen! Someone screwed up in the factory. Now trying to re-plumb it so the drains go to the right tank. What a mess in the enclosed area! Turns out there was no bag in the vacuum so got out the shop back to cl ...

... the RV? This can have a impact on the floor model you may want to consider. There are front master bathrooms, bath and a half units, front kitchen, rear kitchen, mid galleys, side entertainment centers, rear entertainment centers, bonus rooms, and bunk houses. Another KEY important consideration is the proper tow vehicle. This size of a unit can easily weigh in the neighborhood of 16,600 lbs. Do you own a dually? If not, this is a big safety consideration. Do you live in a State that requires a Class "A" Driver's License? If so, have you made the necessar ...

We bought our Redwood almost 4 years ago and sold our 3,000 sq foot house just over 2 years ago. Our home base is a 900 sq foot Basement with our daughter & SIL and we travel in the Redwood for up to 5 or 6 months at a time. In British Columbia we must be in the Province at least 5 months per year to maintain our medical. This is very similar to the arrangement you described and has many benefits. When at home we get unlimited time with our grandson. Our Basement is completely self-contained so we can be alone, or share with the kids above. We are also fre ...
Balancing hot air ducts | 6 Relevance | 8 years ago | Danny_and_Linda | Utilities: Heating and Ventilation
You don't need to remove the underbelly for heating ducts, they are all behind the Basement wall except the foam runs to the 2 ducts in the living area, remove about 2 dozen screws. On mine there is 1 - 2" duct going into the underbelly & the Basement is heated by the return air to the furnace from an opening next to the steps & under the dresser in the bedroom. The rest of the ducts are a huge bird's nest around the furnace.
Water Filter Relocation | 6 Relevance | 9 years ago | Jim | Utilities: Plumbing, Electrical and Propane
Nice job! I have thought about doing this project, but have some concerns about the filter/water lines freezing in cold weather. Their present location in the Basement does offer a layer of protection from the cold. Has anyone experienced water freezing issues after relocating the filter assembly? Bob If you're worried about freeze protection, just run a short heat duct to the compartment. It's located directly behind the panel. That would be a very easy fix. Run a short 1" to 2" line and you'll be plenty protected. I don't "plan" on getting into that c ...

... immediately noted that both doors were present. It was also a 2016 model, so maybe you can still get the FL with 2 doors. Other than the rear door, the floorplan was similar to the one on the website Our impressions, compared to our 36FL, are: - Pass through Basement is a definite improvement, although the water filter isn't any easier to access. - The Level-Up controls were on the fwd bulkhead on the driver's side inside the Basement. Don't like this location, much prefer it on the outside. - Living room, nice to see they have restored the larger enter ...

Similar location on our 2013 36 FL. Driver's side between the Basement and convenience centre. It visible when changing the water filter. For us taking down the Basement wall is probably the easiest access.
