Hello all,
I've recently changed from a Ram 2500 to a new 3500 shortbed and am not happy with the bedrail to fifth wheel overhang clearance. My 3500 doesn't squat as much as the 2500... I've ordered replacement feet for my Pullrite Superslide Hitch ( Mdl #2700), which will raise the hitch 1.5". This will still allow me to use the bedcover, when not towing.
Part #1 question: after raising the hitch, if I want/need to raise the trailer (2015 Cypress) to ride level, what is the best way to do that?
My trailer is not with me, but I don't believe the trailer leaf spring hangers have more than one hole to hang the springs from. That would be too easy.
I've previously installed the Morryde Shackle and Wet Bolt kit ( U012021), which included the 3 1/8" shackles, but didn't change from Lippert active suspension system.
Part #2: if there are no other suggestions on how to lift the trailer, would it be a good idea to change to the Morryde active suspension and instead of going with the 2 1/4" shackles, which would be recommended to keep standard height, using the 3 1/8" shackles instead? Which I already have installed... Would this raise the suspension without adding additional stress to the suspension components and how much would this actually lift the trailer?
I've scanned all the forums and didn't find answers to the question of what happens if the longer 3 1/8" shackles are used instead of the shorter 2 1/4" shackles, when changing to the Morryde 4000.
My other thoughts are to also change from the 235/80/16 to the GY Endurance 235/85/16, giving me about an inch taller tire.
I'm only looking to raise the trailer a couple inches...
Sorry for being so long winded...
Thanks in advance!
Rob

If I'm thinking correctly, from the way the shackles connect to the equalizer pointing upwards, the 3 1/8" shackles would actually lower the rv by being further away from the equalizer.
Also with the way these heavy beast scrub tires in tight turns I don't think I'd be comfortable lengthening the spring hangers without some serious frame strengthening in those areas. If you're going to all that expense/remodeling just go for the IS & they'll take care of the issue & you'll gain the best suspension on the market.

Agree with Danny. If you have to go through all that, do the IS. We now have almost 5 years and way over 30k miles on ours and not one issue. Just a lot of peace of mind no a great handling and idling coach.
Mor/ryde is was my thought also. They measure your RW while hooked to your TV and determine the size of Sub-Frame to built to get you level.
We're on our third unit with the IS and won't travel without it and Disc Brakes.
Another advocate for the MORryde IS... This is my 2nd fiver with the IS ,they do everything right!.. They will place your entire unit on LEVEL ground, get all the measurements needed from ground to frame.
That will give them the number of what is needed for the sub frame...
FIRST CLASS OPERATION... . . NOT everyone needs, wants or can spare the expense of the IS, but for those who will continue to CHASE problems... its a good answer
I have to admit, my first inclination was to lower the Ram, but that is neither the easiest nor the cheapest solution. Just another can of worms... The rear shackle and hanger do not lend themselves to easy modification. Then, I would also want to lower the front to keep the current rake...
As for the Morryde 4000, I found an old post where RobFla installed this system, replacing the EquaFlex, and stated he ended up 1-1.5" taller on the RV. I was wrong on the 3 1/8" shackles. Thanks for pulling my head out of that dark space...
If I can install the Morryde 4000 and gain 1-1.5", have more suspension travel and the increased stability of the crossbars, I think I'd be happy. I'll also change from the Westlake tires to the taller GY Endurance and should reach my goal of 2-2.5" of increased height.
My Cypress has a lot of similarities with the Redwoods, specifically the 31SL in size and configuration. I'm probably lighter, though, and don't think I necessarily need to gain carrying capacity.
My plan is to mount the taller feet (1.5" extenders (Part # 2708)) to the Pullrite Superslide and see where that takes me, but I'm leaning toward the Morryde 4000 and taller tires to gain increased trailer height goal...
My assumption, from the previous RobFla post, is that the 4000 will lift the rig 1-1.5" Is this debatable? If so, please chime in, I'd hate to make that mistake...
Thank you in advance!

I should have included the link to the previous post, reference Rob_Fla Morryde 4000 install. I’ve copied the link below:

Yep, by installing the shorter shackles and the MorRyde 4000 I did pickup some height and ride was much better than OEM suspension.
A couple of years ago I switched to the MorRyde IS, love it.

The 1 to 1 1/2 inches is correct. I installed the Mor/Ryde SRE-4000 three years ago. My Redwood 36RL went from 13' 3" to 13' 4 1/4".

Thanks for the confirmation on the Morryde 4000 and for all the other recommendations. I have several options to consider and am now clear on what each will bring. Thanks again and enjoy spring! We'll do the same, if the snow ever stops falling... 🙂
