I have a 2013 redwood fifth wheel 36RL.It has a squealing sound for about 5 seconds or so when it starts to go out, any suggestions.

Thank you for any help.

Our 2015 38RL was making similar noises - loud enough that we felt we were disturbing neighbors when we were pulling out of a site at early hours.  At the 2019 Rally in Indiana that was one of the tech items I asked Redwood to look at, and the techs immediately crawled underneath and removed the coroplast at the rear of the rig. I thought they would be lubricating the slide out mechanisms but he said, no - the lubrication points for the slide outs are in the center. He knew what he was doing and it took him about 30 minutes, but I never got to crawl underneath and see what he did. But, it worked and a year later our slides are still quiet. That's where I would start if I was troubleshooting myself.

By the way, he also said that most owners will try to lubricate the gear mechanisms and all that stuff you can see from underneath the slide. He said all that does is attract dirt and doesn't do anything for a smooth slide operation.

Hope that helps!

Since I used to have a Pullrite Superglide, I had several cans or Dry lube - Slip plate that I would use on the gears and wheels on the exterior under the slide floors.. that stuff will not attract dirt. I cannot answer whether or not it worked, but I had no squealing....  I used to also lube the side wiper seals every other trip or so...

Broncos... might be an odd question... are you in Colorado?  We always love meeting Redwood owners.  George has done a lot of work on our Redwood over the years.

Redwood techs have told us to make sure to use dry lubricant...exactly as was mentioned.  Here is what they gave us to use.  We get it now at Home Depot.

Hi Rog, how did you guess I was from Colorado Ha! Ha!When I read the manual,it said not to lub any running gear on the slideout, maybe it meant the electric slid out in the front. My big slide out Is Hydraulic thats the one that squeals. I will go to home depot and pick some power lub up.

I used the silicone lube on both the hydraulic gears under each slide & the Swchintec (see uTube videos) & motors in the bedroom slide, never had any squeaks nor dirt stuck in it. Used the same lube to wipe & spray the leveling rams, as recommended by factory techs.

May want to condition the slide seals. As recommended by the factory techs, use Pledge furniture polish sprayed onto a rag & wipe ALL seals/gaskets throughout the RW. I used the dollar store imitation Pledge which seemed to work just as well.
