I need to begin to replace the fabric on my slide toppers which has failed due to improper installation by the factory. I did not notice their error until well after my 2 year warranty was over. Has anyone done the replacement themselves?

You will want an extra hand or two to help if you do this yourself.

You can order the fabrics on amazon or on-line stores. They ship it to you in a box.

There are 2 screws to remove. 2 on the RV. One at each end.

The fabric is slightly heavy but more awkward to handle.

Someone may have found a better way, but we used 3 people. Could have used four. We slid into the track on the RV and the Drum at the same time.

I've seen repair centers use 2 people. They work with it all the time and are probably used to handling it.

This probably did not help much but maybe ...

Elliott, over on RV.net there are a lot of people that swear by these guys -Tuf Top

They have many do it yourself videos on their site also... The folks say they are cheap, and great to work with.. And the fabric is thicker and better grade than the original... IF and WHEN I need to replace mine, I will ise them.

Those 2 screws are the cause of my failure. Redwood put them through the fabric of the awning rather than under or next to it, so when the wind lifted the awning the screw tore through the awning. Repair tape only is so strong and lasts only so long..

Thanks, Joe. I've been trying to get in touch with them for a couple of days by email and phone, but no response yet.

Had a friend help with the dining slide & son in law with the kitchen slide, definitely need 2 people & lube up the slots with silicone spray very well before sliding fabric in.

I have used these people twice and wouldn't use anyone else. The are very customer friendly and manufacture an quality product. My self and my brother-in-law (both over 65) changed all 3 of mine with little difficulty.
