basement heater | 13 Relevance | 6 years ago | Danny_and_Linda | Utilities: Heating and Ventilation
Can you run Basement heater when driving? I believe it is the red toggle switch. Heading home and weather is supposed to be in 30's. Thanks Dee Nof familiar with newer RWs, but the red toggle you're referring to is most likely the gas switch for the water heater. As far as I know there is NOT a dedicated Basement heater, but the furnace does heat the Basement & to a small extent the underbelly. You'll get diferring opinions on running the furnace while traveling but I've done it for years & haven't blown up yet.
Main Door doesn't latch easily | 13 Relevance | 7 years ago | Jim | General Exterior
Rick, I'd love to know how to fix my present door because of the inconvenience of taking into a dealer while we are living in the unit. your ideas are welcome. David.peterson@vtechio.com I worked on the entry door to see if I could “fix” it. Went to Lowes and got 4 - ¼ 20 Tee Nuts and 2 - 3 foot ¼ 20 threaded rods. I drilled one hole 31 inches up from the bottom and another 42 inches up. Our door was separating the worst around the middle hinge and latch. The hardest part was getting the threaded rod through to hit the hole on the other side. I used a 5/16 steel tube to drive through the Styrofoam to make it easier. I bent the threaded rod so I could hang onto it while tightening the Tee Nut. Used 90 degree snap ring pliers to tighten the nuts. I could not find a Pin nut wrench small enough. I drilled the holes close the fiberglass so when tightening I would not just crush the Styrofoam. Got all the play out the frame and tightened it up against the fiberglass panel. I also removed one each of the top and bottom[/img] hinges. The door now closes like it should, light pressure and it latches. My wife can open and close it finally. I did this before we got a new door in 4/2016. The new door had the same problem. Removed 1 of the top and bottom hinge fingers to lighten the load on the door. When we were at the service center after last year’s rally, I told them I did not consider the door issue resolved. They had LCI come over and replace the friction hinges with normal non-friction hinges. Now we can call it resolved. It would not let me use the link so the pics would show. Hopefully you can see them. Rick
Parts List | 13 Relevance | 9 years ago | Anonymous | Suggestions for Redwood
I have a whole bag of those for the pantry (4 hinge sets). I bought them from Tiara hoping to convert the ones for the cabinet above the dishwasher, but I couldn't get them to work. They were just too much hinge for those small doors and caused them to overlap in the center with no more available adjustment to bring them out. Sounds like I better keep them as spare parts. I think they fit the pantry and the w/d closets.
European Style Hinge | 13 Relevance | 4 years ago | stevekniaz | Main Forum
I have a 2016 Redwood 5th wheel & I'm looking for a place that carries a European Style hinge for my wardrobe closet door which has 3 hinges on each door. There is no # on it & I've been to all the hardware stores & no one carries this size. Can anyone refer me to someone who carries this? Thank you Steve Kniaz
Furnace blowing warm air | 12 Relevance | 7 years ago | Jim | Membership Q&A
... You will also have Basement ducting to keep your tanks warm. Having said this, it is very likely that you could have one of several possibilities: 1) The ducting has pulled apart blowing all of your air into the Basement (instead of the coach). 2) The ducting is pinched causing a reduction of air. Although, if this were the case, you would likely have your unit trip out on over-temp. 3) Your fan motor is not working properly. If everything sounds "normal", and you have limited flow at all duct registers, I would lean toward ducting being pulled apart ei ...

... If they are AC tank heaters you're out of luck unless they are on an inverter or you run your generator. The Basement is heated quite nicely by the furnace. When I open my Basement door in cold weather it's usually much warmer than the coach. There should be no problem running your furnace as you are running down the road. I used to do it all the time in my Class A motorhome. Just check to see that none of your heat registers are blocked off by the slides when they are pulled in.

So I answered some of my own questions. Seems they are supplied through Lippert and I found the spec sheets and installation instructions. They can carry 800lbs each. My goal would be to not store 1600lbs of stuff in the Basement but we will see. And I can do different widths depending on what the Basement looks like when it gets here.
Basement Slides | 10 Relevance | 8 years ago | Jim | Owner Modifications
My 39MB should be here by the end of the month. One of the things I wanted to do was look at putting sliding trays in the Basement. I was surprised how expensive they were relatively speaking. I have been searching everywhere and I finally came across what I think is a great deal. These slide are made by Kwikee and are on Lippert site. They seem to be RV rated and I think having one on each side on the Basement passthrough will work. So for my Canadian brethren I found these on Amazon and they are the cheapest I found anywhere. For our American ...

Very well organized Iceman! Don't mean to get off topic - but a good reminder for those that may have bought a previously owned Redwood with the Basement awning switches. You can see from Icemans picture how easy it was for loads to shift and hit the awnings switches on the early Redwoods that had them - with catastrophic results (awning deploys on the highway). If you have those switches in the Basement, there should be some type of cover over them. Redwood's recall included black plastic cover with velcro to attach it to the carpet. You had to reach ...

I have a Weber Q BBQ that sits on it's collapsed stand, the wheels allowed it move around in the Basement. I screwed some Velcro double sided tape to the Basement wall so I can hold the BBQ from moving. The tape also holds my ladder to the wall.

... grey tank that was cracked and now I have a water leak in the Basement. We have tried to narrow it down and we think it leaks when we take a shower. We can't see the leak, we can only see water coming out of the ceiling in the Basement. Our unit is 16 months old and we have been in for service at least 6 times. Does anyone else have leaks? I can only hope that this is going to be under warranty. We have service scheduled for March 19 at Lazydays. I wish Redwood would make service easier for those of us that are full timers. My husband is a plumber, but is a ...

My old Redwood/Blackwood leaked under the sink and the water ran down the pex pipe and dripped and puddled in the Basement area. After hours of looking underneath in the Basement area I went up top and checked under the bathroom sink and bingo! Replaced the connection and no more leak. |
