Plastic Basement Door Hinges | 32 Relevance | 5 years ago | RWCal | Urgent Assistance Required
The Basement access under the bedroom slide on my 2015 38RL has 2 doors: the one on the right has turn latches on the top and bottom, the one on the left has slam door latches on the top and bottom. The top hinge on the right side door failed last year. It was plastic(!) and I replaced it with a small stove bolt of the same diameter. Now both plastic (!) pins on the left door have failed, so the bottom pin probably has to be replaced by another plastic one that is driven into the hinge. I've searched everywhere on the web for plastic hinge pins with no ...

You guys who are looking for the Basement door hinge, do you mean the Basement door on the street side or the curb side. If you mean the street side, I was able to buy those hinges from Lippert in both the champagne and black colors. If that's what you wish, I'll try and find the part numbers for you. Our coach on the curb side has the full piano hinge that still looks in great shape.

Hey there, it's finally happened. The Basement door hinge(s) have finally broken. I had read a post by Adam ant way back when about replacement hinges. I called RW service and they referred me back to the dealer for parts. But I remember someone else posting about a better hinge they got from some where else. Can you give me an idea of where I can find those hinges and a replacement clip for the window shade clip. It broke too. Thanks. Randy
Broken storage door hinge | 25 Relevance | 4 years ago | Marlindy | Forum Help & FAQ
Three years ago the small hinge on the right side of the front storage bin broke. We were in Casper, Wy. & I bought a replacement at Stalkups RV store. They had a whole bin of them. It cost $2.00 & took me ten minutes to swap it out. Earlier this year the hinge on the left side broke also. They are pot metal & break off where the two screws go through the mounting plate. Now, the left hinge on the right side storage door has broken the same way. I called Stalkups, but they are no longer in business. I have tried other online suppliers with no luck. One of them tried to find them for me but told me now you have to buy an entire DOOR! I can't be the only one to have these fail. Where can I get them? I used to call Redwood or Crossroads, but now they are not cooperative & claim my VIN will not help them find parts.

The better hinge I replaced mine with looked like the first picture. The original looked like the second picture. I don't think you can get the old one anymore, but not positive. As you can see below, the hinge is much more stout at the base. The old one was paper thin

... flashlights handy to perform the work. Total install time: 3.5 Hours (I did not get in a hurry)...Pics located at the bottom... Step 1) Removed all of the garage items. It's amazing how much junk the trunk will actually hold. Step 2) Removed the panel covers (2 out of 3) to get access to the Basement. Step 3) Had to run down to Lowes to get a small piece of wood to mount the EMS to ($3.02), 8' of 6/3 w/ground NMB Romex ($22.32), and some tie-wraps ($2.48) and tax for a total of $30.12. Step 4) Mounted the EMS onto the pre-cut piece of wood 17.5" long. ...
Main Door doesn't latch easily | 19 Relevance | 8 years ago | Jim | General Exterior
We had about the same problems with our door. When you push on the latch side to shut it, you can see the panel move away from the frame around the door on the hinge side. I bet you have a white line running up the door panel along the frame on the hinge side. Since you are in Tucson, go to Lazy Dayz and talk to John Sportsman in service. They replaced our door in April 2016. They did a great job matching the paint. Went back a month later for another fix and he told me they have 4 more doors they were getting ready to replace. They should know what to tell RW to get the door replaced. For now, you can remove 1 of the hinge fingers on the top and bottom hinges to lighten the load on the door. If you do not want to replace the door. I can tell you how to "Fix" your current door. Rick
Fix for leak in basement and toolbox | 19 Relevance | 9 years ago | Jim | General Exterior
Well, somewhere down the line we developed a leak in the Basement. After a rain sometimes there would be a puddle on the Basement floor. We have, like everyone else, tons of stuff in the Basement; but we did have a large piece of carpet that wicked most of it and we weren't aware of it until the last few trips we made. We have recently emptied the Basement before taking it off to service in January. Today, we had a pretty substantial amount of rain that hit the curb side door that we suspected. Upon looking closer, it looks like it is leaking in from th ...

My strut story got a little complicated. My large Basement door would barely stay up, and if it was cold or a little breezy, it would slam shut. Kind of frustrating because our factory TV is in the Basement. Took it to the Dealer for warranty - they replaced the strut with what Redwood sent them and it was wonderful....for one day. I closed the door and ended up wearing it after the hinges snapped off and dropped the door on my feet. The Dealer and I found any number of combinations of struts and hinges on the same year Redwoods on the lot with no rh ...

Fix for leak in basement and toolbox | 16 Relevance | 9 years ago | Anonymous | General Exterior
It's probably not your issue but we had water in the Basement and the GFI wouldn't reset, it was caused by a water leak from the piping under the bathroom sink running down the piping and into the electrical outlet in the Basement before wetting the Basement floor both behind and in front of the Basement wall. A simple loose connection, tightened it and dried out the outlet. |
